Gibraltar Development Limited, known for some of the most
outstanding residential developments in this region was named in October as
Builder of the Year (Multi- Family) for East Village at Quidi Vidi. This is
a highly popular 30-home community consisting of semi-detached, two-storey
and large bungalows, with breathtaking views of an historic region.Craig Foley, Vice President of Gibraltar Development, says the company is
delighted with the award. It underlines the success of East Village where
Gibraltar’s homes have sold particularly well:
“We constructed a new city street connecting Quidi Vidi Road to
Cuckhold’s Cove Road. This new street has been named ‘Regiment Road’,
evoking the military history of the region. We started home construction in
the late fall of 2004. Within eleven months, no less than 25 of the homeshad
been constructed, sold and occupied.”
Out of a total project consisting of 30 homes, only five now remain on
the market - two are available for immediate occupancy and the other three
will become available late this winter or early spring.
All properties in this development were custom designed by David Kelly,
P.Eng., President of Gibraltar Development, and are priced from $180,000 to
$350,000. The five remaining on the market are between $232,000 and
$280,000.
Four consecutive years
East, west and central, Gibraltar’s homes have brought a level of quality
and distinction to the inventory of homes in the capital region. The
company’s first Builder of the Year (multi family) award (2002) was for
Brittany on Bond, an eight-unit executive brownstone project on Bond Street,
overlooking St. John’s harbour. The second was for West Highlands (2003), a
10-unit townhome development located at the corner of Empire Avenue and
Newtown Road. The third (2004) was for Hillview Trails, a 16- unit
semi-detached project off Southside Road. Builder of the Year awards are
made by the Canadian Home Builders Association - Eastern Newfoundland.
Gibraltar Development Limited principals (in addition to Craig Foley),
include Frank Foley, Director, a noted homebuilder in this region for some
years with Dave Kelly, P.Eng., as President. The company has been a strong
supporter of the Canadian Home Builders Association - Eastern Newfoundland -
Frank Foley is a two-time Past President of the organization.

Only five homes
remain for sale at East Village |
All homes at East Village at Quidi Vidi offer beautifully functional
living spaces and open concepts associated with Gibraltar’s custom and award
winning designs.
Along with spectacular coastal scenery, the community offers easy access to
the Grand Concourse Trail, parks, shopping areas, Quidi Vidi Lake and is
only minutes from the Outer Ring Road/Trans Canada Highway and downtown St.
John’s.Photographs included here show the beauty of design and provide
for 21st century lifestyle.
At East Village, urban living is balanced with outport charm. These
rugged hills, sheltering coves and harbours, have seen episodes of history
that helped shape The New World. Today, this heritage is still in evidence.
As a location in which to own residential property, Gibraltar’s East Village
is a unique combination of home quality and character location.
Gibraltar’s next and current project
In addition to putting the finishing touches on the highly popular East
Village project, Gibraltar is now developing Phase II of East Point Landing
Gibraltar Developments is currently the primary builder of East Point
Landing, a community within St. John’s and accessed off Logy Bay Road
opposite NTV - OZ FM.
A family-oriented subdivision, Gibraltar has no less than 350 house plans
from which prospective buyers can choose. “Or,” says Vice President Craig
Foley, “buyers can bring in their ideas and work with our staff on
formalizing those ideas as buildering plans.”
Sales in Phase II of East Point Landing are proceeding briskly, with only
in the order of 17 lots remaining at this date to be purchased. Phase III is
expected to start this coming spring and will offer a further 50 building
lots. This phase backs on prestigious King William Estates.
